Junaid Ahmed from Essex in England, who has more than 52 000 followers on Instagram, admits he’s addicted to taking selfies.

The 22-year-old takes about 200 pictures of himself every day, BBC News reports.

He carefully plans when he’ll post on social media and immediately deletes a snap if it doesn’t get more than 600 likes.

"When I post a picture, in the first minute or two I'll probably get 100 likes and I love it, my phone goes crazy, it's just amazing,” Junaid says.

He says he spends more than three hours a day getting ready to take selfies.

Although he enjoys taking snaps every day, his friends and family hate his picture-taking habit.

"They're like, 'Can't you go to a meal and not take a picture?'

"And I'm like, 'No, I didn't get ready for three hours for no reason. Why would I not take a picture?’ " he says.

The social media influencer admits to having had cosmetic surgery done to “upgrade” himself.

"I've had my teeth veneered, chin filler, cheek filler, jawline filler, lip filler, botox under the eyes and on the head, tattooed eyebrows and fat-freezing,” the 22-year-old says.

Junaid, who’s a former fashion student and model, says he realises social media can be a rather cruel space but tries to ignore it.

"Years ago I never used to look like this. I used to be quite natural. But I just think with the obsession with social media . . . I want to upgrade myself now.

"Social media is fun using it in the right way. But don't let it affect your life purely because you aspire to be what someone else on Instagram is being – it's just not worth it.”

Researchers at Nottingham Trent University have identified uploading more than six selfies a day on social media as a genuine addiction called selfitis, The Sun reports.
