If you’re anything like me, the first thing you want to know about a phone is how good its camera is. Does it blur a landscape? How does it perform at night? Does it take the perfect selfie?
The Huawei P20 does not disappoint. In fact, it takes the crispest, most sumptuous, most detailed photos I’ve seen a phone take.
According to its creators, the Huawei P20 Pro “achieved a DxOMark’s highest overall score of 109, beating the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus by 10 points”.
The DxOMark is the primary body that gives independent image quality measurements and ratings for smartphones, cameras and lenses.
I found that pictures also remain crisp, even when you zoom in as many as five times.
Another image feature the P20 boasts is its ability to take photos at night. Its special features allow you to capture light even at night, so your night shots always look superb. I struggled a little bit at first to find this fabled “night mode” setting everyone on Twitter was buzzing about. It turns out you have to tap on “more” on the photo options and then find night mode. If it’s such a star feature, why not have it more easily available?
Apart from this little niggle, you’ll find yourself turning into something of a pro photographer with the P20. All of a sudden, you’ll possess skills you didn’t even know you had. If photos are your thing, this phone is for you.
Oh, I forgot about the functionality – the phone’s operating system is EMUI 8.1 based on the Android 8.1 and very easy to use.
But who cares when the camera is this good?
