We ran a story a few months back about the escalating petrol price and how these days, more and more people are opting for smaller cars instead of larger SUVs, 4x4s and the like.
My colleague Sergio from Wheesl24 noted that while lighter cars are perhaps better, how you actually drive your car is just as important to reducing your general fuel consumption.
But, I digress.
So, after this weekend’s Total Economy Run - a local event slash competition - the Ford Fiesta Ambiente TDCi manual was named the most fuel-savvy car in South Africa, using a ‘mere’ 4.485 litres per 100km.
Now, this may be lighter than the Chevy Sonic and Kia Picanto that we’ve previously recommended. But, with the base model priced over 200K brand new, it’s definitely NOT affordable.
At least not for an average earning citizen like myself.
