5 ways to recraft and transform your household items

1. Wrap a bottle filled with sweets as the children’s birthday-party gift

You will need:

•    glass cooldrink bottles with screw tops
•    small sweets
•    scrapbooking paper or gift wrap
•    organza ribbon
•    pretty buttons

To make:

1 - Soak the bottles in warm soapy water to remove the labels. Rinse and leave to dry.

2 - Using your craft knife and metal ruler, cut a new label for each bottle from the scrapbooking paper or gift wrap. Stick the labels to the bottles using spray glue.

3 - Fill the bottles with sweets and finish off by gluing an organza ribbon and a button to the bottle.

TIP: Use double-sided tape to attach the button as it is quick, easy and mess free.

2. Bar Stool Makeover: Give your bar stools some puppy love

Give an inexpensive bar stool a quick makeover by printing a picture on vinyl and glueing it to the seat.

Digital printing shops countrywide will be able to do the same on a variety of surfaces, from wood to vinyl and fabric.

3. Old door with new décor: A space saver plus a hanging feature for your beautiful items

Use an old door as an interesting décor item.

First drill holes for the door knobs then sand away any flaky paint and wash the door with a sugar-soap solution.

Apply an undercoat if necessary, then paint the door in the colour of your choice. Plascon Enamel was used for the doors and trims in Noble Blue B1-B1-2.

When the paint is dry, screw in decorative door knobs. Now you have the ideal hanging space for your beads, scarves and jewellery.

4. Want a kitchen-shelf door? Put something old to new use that is easy, affordable and convenient

This door is mounted with a shelf at the bottom, on which you can put kitchen items - or you could place it in an entrance wall.

This will work well in a house with high ceilings.

Paint the shelf and door the same colour for a unified look.

5. Keep it contained: Clear your clutter with this clever tip

Keep your craft room organised by colour coordinating your items, keeping them in clear glass jars and putting them on display in boxes lined with scrap-booking paper.

TIP: Use unexpected containers like a pretty teacup or sugar bowl to store smaller items in. Use sponge double-sided tape or a heavy duty staple gun to secure the boxes to each other.
