Turn boring shoes into fancy footwear

You will need:

  • a pair of pumps
  • broad lace with a scalloped edge (according to the size and style of the shoes)
  • Bostik Craft Glue
  • scissors
  • diamanté clips
  • 30cm velvet ribbon
  • narrow black cord (to go around the base of the shoe upper)
  • To make:

    1. Cut a strip of lace long enough to cover both sides of one shoe from the toe to the heel. Apply glue directly to the shoe upper one section at a time.

Start with the centre of the lace strip positioned across the toe section of the shoe. Gather the lace at the front, applying more glue to secure.

    2. Now, carefully, cover the rest of the shoe, making sure to not leave any gaps and smoothing the lace as you work.

    3. Use your scissors to neatly trim away any excess lace at the base of the shoe upper.

    4. Overlap the ends of the lace at the heel section. Fold double and secure with glue.

    5. Use the narrow black cord to secure the lace around the base of the shoe upper. Repeat the steps with the second shoe.

    6. To make the decoration, fold a 15cm strip of velvet ribbon into a bow and secure it to the front of the shoe with glue and a diamanté clip.
