Décor trends to know about for 2016

accreditation
2016 will be the year of technology in our kitchens and bathrooms, as new advancements will make our appliances interact electronically.

Appliances such as our fridges or spice ranks will be able to notify you via your smartphone when and what ingredient are running low.

Already we have seen ovens with programmed self-timers, now imagine a screen on your appliance to access and store all your recipes via voice command.

The screen will then immediately notify you if you have all the correct ingredients to make the recipe. Crazy, right?

Trend forecaster, Dave Nemeth says that the ‘foodie’ trend will continue to blossom, mainly due to the popularity of cooking television shows.

In 2016, kitchens will be more driven by form than function, such as thinner and more durable counter tops made from stainless steel, concrete and brass. According to Nemeth, the hottest colour trend for your kitchen is brass and copper.

The bathroom has now become the focal point of any house, as people judge your home by your bathroom being clean and tidy.

Bathrooms have become large and people have welcomed the en suite bathroom as an extension to their bedroom. Nemeth says that our bathrooms become a social wellness centre, where we can relax and interact.

These information stations are where users can brush their teeth while checking the daily news and social media in the comfort of their bathroom. According to Nemeth, inventions like changeable mood lighting, sound and, the ultimate luxury, heated towels via mobile interaction from your smartphone, will come to the forefront.

Managing director of Hansgrohe SA, David Cooper, says that traditional taps are fast being replaced by sophisticated technology, such as automatic faucets.

Showerheads, such as The Talis Select S are a great innovative invention from Hansgrohe, which operates through a select button. The eco-friendly shower works with various settings and keeps the volume and temperature constant at a touch of a button.
