Eyewitness News reported that an ancient Chinese vase was found in a shoebox in France and was sold for - drum roll - over R260 million. It was more 20 times the original estimated value put on the item by Sotheby's and is also the highest price reached for a single item by the international auction house in France.

According to the article the auction lasted for 20 minutes, "a long time by usual standards for such sales, with multiple bidders battling for the prize."
