Golightly, which debuted this month, is based in Austin, Texas. The invite-only rental service currently has over 350 global properties to choose from.

Listings include spots in Italy, Dubai, London, Greece and Ireland. Rental spots on the website are either owned or managed by women. Men cannot book through Golightly, but they can travel with a female member.

There is a $100 (just under R1500) membership fee to join, but the charge is being waived until February.

Founder Victoria O'Connel, started the business following a bad Airbnb experience in 2017. Victoria says male guests burgled her place in London when she rented it out.

"We hope to take some of the stress out of bookings and listing vacation rentals so leave life's baggage behind and go lightly," the Golightly website declares.
