Your home address
We’re living in times where women are killed more than in past years. According to research done by Africa Check, the femicide rate in South Africa is five times more than the global rate. Every eight hours in SA a women is killed, in most cases, by their intimate partners. So, before sending a stranger your location, first consider the stats.
How much you make
Remember first dates are about knowing basic information about the other person and naturally your salary isn’t something you discuss with people when you first meet. Who knows, you might have scored yourself a “gold digger”. So be sure to keep your salary a secret until you marry the guy because you don’t want a partner who’s with you for the wrong reasons.
The names of your children
If you’re a mom you should be keeping your children as far away from new boyfriends and dates as possible. That includes their names, where they go school and their ages. What if you’re dealing with a predator? You don’t want your child to become their next victim.
Your office address
By giving out your work address, you’re giving people the freedom to keep tabs of you and pay you awkward “surprise” visits. When the work topic comes up, rather say what industry you’re in rather than being specific about your place of work.
Your family’s dirty laundry
You don’t know what your date’s intentions are. Things might turn ugly and he might end up using this against you and your family. So, whether your sister’s cheating on her husband or if your uncle is involved in illegal activities, keep it to yourself.
