With lockdown being implemented in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, the days of plain old self-isolation and social distancing are nearly a thing of the past.
For one woman, the memory is still very fresh after she found herself stuck indoors with someone she’d only recently met.
Thea de Gallier was forced to self-isolate with a date she met on dating app Hinge, just five days after meeting him for the very first time, reports the Mirror.
The pair spent 14 days locked up together sharing food, space and getting to know one another.
Thea shared live action updates on Twitter and got a swarm of fans invested in the home-stay set up - which came with the hashtag #isolationandchill.
“It’s time I did my public service and offered you all a bit of light relief,” she wrote.
“I’ve seen a lot of jokes about meeting someone and ending up having to self-isolate with them after one night together.
“Readers, I’m in isolation with a man I met on Hinge last Thursday.”
“How’s it been so far, you ask?” she quipped before explaining.
“Well, his dog hated me at first but now happily sits on me, I’ve done a terrible Chewbacca impression, I’m wholeheartedly using this situation to give my WhatsApp groups the content they need and want.”
While this may be the stuff of nightmares, the fun was not lost and tickled her followers pink.
“Right so, technically, it’s only day 2 of #isolationandchill because we only decided to do it yesterday,” she added the following day.
“We are, let’s say, from opposite ends of the class scale but have dealt with this in good humour by calling each other (respectively) “posh twat” and “povvo” #coronavirusuk.”
Thea called the situation a “modern love story” and it’s one fans are hilariously keen for.
