I have a boyfriend!

I’m wandering around the grocery store and choosing ingredients for the meal I’m cooking for my boyfriend.

It’s always exciting, choosing the freshest of veggies, the firmest of asparagus, the most tender of beef.

I love the idea of making a meal for the guy I adore, and who adores me.

I’m on my way home to prepare. I need to season the roast and get the potatoes in the oven.  I want them to be sweet and soft inside and deliciously crunchy on the outside.

I’ve bought a rib of beef with tons of fat that’s going to keep it moist and juicy. I’m going to do it rare but not too rare, and place it on an elegant plate with rocket, mint and slithering curls of Parmesan.

Yum, I’m already savoring this dinner!

I’m going to pluck lettuce from my garden, oak-leaf and romaine, mix it with watercress and firm baby tomatoes, crumble some Danish feta and drizzle extra virgin olive oil and lemon over this crispiest of salads.

I’ll do this last minute, in my cosy kitchen, while we chat and catch up on the day.

I’ve chosen the wine, red Bordeaux.  It has an aroma of of cassis, dark cherry and vanilla and it’s a smooth and sexy wine.  I’ll have an extra bottle, just in case he drinks a lot, although one bottle is enough for me.

Mmm, I can already taste the wine.

My table is going to look gorgeous.  I shall lay the table with my linen tablecloth, the one with big green leaves and sunflowers.

I’m going to use the white porcelain crockery, and I’ll take out those fabulous vintage Waterford long stemmed wine glasses.

And of course, roses. Tons of fresh roses, red, pink and white, with the most delicious heady scent.

Smell the perfume. Magnificent!

I love jazz and my playlist for the night includes John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk and Mary Lou Williams. I think he likes jazz too, but if not, we can choose something else.

I’m also into the blues, country and western and soul, and pretty sure he is too.

I’m tapping my feet, dancing!

He doesn’t smoke, but I think I’ll have a cigar in the cabinet, just in case, and Armagnac is always a divine way to end the meal.

He’s going to bring the Armagnac.

And then I’m going shopping to pick out shoes, underwear and a dress for my boyfriend.

I love saying this!  My boyfriend.

My boyfriend.

I’m going to choose a new dress to wear for my boyfriend.

I better not get carried away though.

He doesn’t yet know that he’s my boyfriend.
