We fight about...

People fight for various reasons. And a lot of them are actually quite silly. In fact, most of them are extremely bloody silly.

We’re not going to discuss the real relationship issues here, although, often silly fights stem from underlying issues. Because deal breaker stuff like sexual incompatibility, infidelity, emotional sterility and, well, hating each other… are just that. Dealbreakers.

But a lot of happy couples fight often and passionately for no good reason.

My most common one is the drunken sex fight:
“Shoe been so ufair. Why can’t I g’down on you?” she’ll slur before she’ll fall off the bed.

Oh okay, before I fall off the bed. There. I was recently much comforted to find that this is also former editor Sam’s signature stupid fight. (Husbands? Look! We’ve embarrassed you AGAIN!)

We’ve managed to collect a few other silly ones…

Monique reckons she’s a real bitch because she gets miffed with her partner because he walks too slowly. Yep. Walking slowly is what sets her off.

Helen and her partner fight about parent (his parents, seldom hers) and the whole he said she said thing. They also fight about how to fight. She wants to sort it out NOW he wants them to cool down.

How familiar does that sound?

Warren and his baby sound like an OCD couple: they fight about things left out of place and lights left on. And Pictionary! Hah. (But then 90% of silly fights live in the board games cupboard, n’est pas?)

Randolf and his partner fight about whose turn it is to pay the restaurant bill and who does the dishes. He’s the first to admit that’s rather lame.

Jackie was very to the point. Money, in laws and kids. But generic fights are a whole new category, and a story on their own.

But my favourite was Helen’s grandparents, who used to fight fiercely on the same side for hours, but not concede an inch.

But enough of our supreme silliness.

Get your gloves off and tell us what you fight about. But only the stupid stuff.
