In the time of coronavirus, remembering stories of love has made for some lighter reading as we are all bombarded with unpleasant news as the virus makes its way through the world.
Veronica Kotzé and other W24 readers, such as Mariana Naude, a woman who met her husband when she was 13 and has been happily married for 40 years, have been sharing their love stories.
Here is Veronica's story:

I met my future husband when we were teens. We never really clicked as I thought he was a little arrogant.A year later or so, he came to my house one Friday night. We chatted for a while, but I never saw him again for another year.
When I was a little older, my cousin needed a fake boyfriend to make an ex jealous. Remembering that my now hubby was my cousin's age, I offered to ask him if he'd be interested in being her fake boyfriend, which I did. He agreed.

They faked their relationship for a few weeks, but before I knew it, he and I were spending time together. We've been together ever since.
I eventually moved in with him and his parents. They were considering moving to the USA, but for me to go with them, we had to get married.
So, his mom and I looked at the calendar, found a date, and informed him that's the date we'd be getting married. He never proposed.

A few months later, we had a beautiful wedding.
We've been through ups and downs, but we are still together and celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary this year.
