Man pops the question to his girlfriend at his brother’s wedding

It’s a big no-no to propose at a wedding, especially without asking the bridal couple first.

A man revealed how he went against the grain to propose to his girlfriend at his brother's wedding and then went on to insult the bride.

The man, who goes by Forsaken Snow on Reddit, shared his story and admitted he hasn’t spoken to his brother and sister-in-law since the incident.

He’s well aware of his faux pas but insisted he didn’t think it would be a problem because he and his brother “get along great,” according to the user.

“Last weekend was my brother’s wedding and since we were so close and generally had no problem sharing the spotlight, I figured I’d propose to my girlfriend,” he said.

“I went to the DJ and asked him to quiet down the music. I got down on one knee and made my proposal.

“My girlfriend was ecstatic,” he explained in the post.

But his brother’s bride was having none of it and had lots to say.

“When his wife had a moment to herself I went up to her and apologised and said I should have asked her permission first. She went off on me and told me how I ruined the wedding,” he continued.

As if his faux pas weren’t enough, the man decided to take it even further.

“I told her she’s being dramatic and that everyone is having a good time. Unfortunately, me and his wife were never really on the best of terms. I told her I didn’t think my brother should have ever married her and I hope they get divorced,” the man concluded.

The man and his new fiancée left the celebration early and haven’t spoken to the newlyweds since, according to the Daily Mail.

Reddit users slammed the proposal in the comments and many said they hoped the post was fake.

“LO-freakin’-L at how he starts it all off with a ‘I know it sounds bad, but just hear me out guys!’ before explaining how he not only hijacked his brother’s wedding, but then also proceeded to say vile, unforgivable things to the bride,” one user wrote.

“There are few situations where proposing at someone else’s wedding is acceptable. The ‘don’t ask for permission and then cuss out the bride afterward’ option isn’t one of them, believe it or not,” another commented.

“It has to be fake, right? Like, no one lacks that magnitude of self-awareness,” one user questioned.
