A couple who had both been carrying engagement rings around with them for weeks were gobsmacked when they finally decided to pop the question – at the exact same time.

Caitlin Mullins, 23, was left speechless after she proposed to now-fiancé, Annie Fox, 23, when Annie pulled out another ring and revealed she was also planning to propose at the same time.

Retail worker Caitlin and massage therapist Annie had both been carrying rings in their pockets unaware of the others plan, when they both decided the time was right on a romantic sunrise hike to the highest peak in Georgia, Brasstown Bald in the U.S.

Caitlin says: “I had absolutely no idea. I’d been planning the proposal for a while. I thought I was being sneaky, going out on a hike to see the sunset. I was incredibly shocked when Annie pulled out a ring too. She had no idea. My face in the photos is 100 percent pure reaction.”

Annie adds; “I wasn’t sure, but I was suspicious. I’d been making sure my nails looked good. I suggested the romantic sunset hike. We both tricked each other into it. This is the most open communication there could be in a relationship. We definitely know we’re on the same page.”

The pair had both been planning their separate proposals for weeks, with Caitlin making the move first, while Annie was still waiting for the right moment.

Caitlin says when she proposed, she was completely oblivious to the fact that Annie had been carrying her own ring in her pocket for weeks.

Caitlin says: “A few weeks ago we were walking around and found a ring in an antique shop. I suggested Annie try it on just for a bit of fun, but it fit so I bought it.”

Annie adds: “It was a new relationship; we weren’t going to get engaged any time soon but just I got it just in case.”

Caitlin and Annie met on a dating app in October 2018 and say their first meeting was love at first sight. They live together in Georgia with their dog Meatball, and cats, Percy and Meeko.

The couple hope for a wedding in 2020 at the same place they proposed, surrounded by their friends and family.

“We would never have met in person even though we had billions of mutual friends," says Annie. “It was pretty much love at first sight. We were both looking for something casual, neither of us expected anything. Caitlin lived in the next state so it wasn’t convenient, but we just couldn’t get away from each other,” she adds.
