QUESTION

I’ve been having sex with my husband’s boss to get my hubby a promotion. I met the boss at the company’s year-end party last year. He said he thought I was beautiful and wanted to get to know me better.

The next thing I knew we were having sex in one of the hotel rooms where the party was held. I lied to my man that I had been sitting in the car with a headache all the time that I had been gone. Since then I have been sneaking away with the boss. My hubby has now been promoted and keeps telling me about what a great guy his manager is.

I have to admit: I am enjoying the company of the manager too. He lavishes me with attention and money. Now I also want him to give me a job. In fact, a higher position than the one my man has. Should I ask the manager or will this affect my marriage? - UNFAITHFUL WIFE

Jennifer Papers, counselling social worker at the Family Life Centre in Alexandra, says: “The question is whether the favour you did for your husband was really about him or your own desires?

Should the lies come to light, do you feel your husband will be appreciative of the favour? “In light of your question of whether or not you should request another favour from your lover, it is always a good feeling when we achieve our goals and we know we worked hard for it.

My concern here is whether the promotion you got for your husband and wanting a job for yourself is something you will have to pay for in sexual favours for the rest of your life. “Are you comfortable with having an arrangement where your body belongs to another man?

Not mentioning the risk of contracting HIV, an unwanted pregnancy, gender-based violence and abuse.”

Stop embarrassing your husband. Money or promotion cannot replace the love your husband has for you. Get yourself a proper job somewhere else and stop any contact with your husband’s boss. This affair will leave your husband shattered.

MTHOKO SITHOMO

When I started reading your letter, I thought you were looking for a way out but I was wrong. It is clear you are looking for more ways to go deeper and further into this sickening affair. My warning is that you will come out of this mess in a coffin.

MOTHEO MOTAUNG

You must ask him to give you some shares in the company. I think you are so greedy that you want to own that company as well. It looks like you want everything from this man and you are forgetting about your husband.

MARIA DIKETSO-MOESI

You just sold your marriage to the devil. Getting a job in that company will just be to seal the deal and hand over your integrity and that of your husband’s to his boss. If you don’t stop now, you really regret this for the rest of your life.
