Skipping meals

We can get so caught up in our busy lives that eating is the least of your worries. This however won’t do your body any justice. Research published on Sciencedaily reveals that women who have the intention of seeing any weight lose should rather keep a food journal as opposed to skipping meals. “Skipping meals might make you respond favorably to high calorie foods therefore resulting in taking in more calories’ says Professor of Public Health and Medicine at the University of Washington Anne McTiernan.

Portioning your food incorrectly

When you eat in large sizes research shows that you’re most likely to eat more than you need. On the other hand, having small bites signals your brain to feel full fuller sooner meaning you eat less.  So the next time you think of eating a piece of meat all at once, remember what cutting it into smaller pieces can do for your weight.

Oversleeping

Getting your 8 hours of sleep per night is very important for weight loss, but over do it and you’ll find yourself gaining weight. Spending your weekends cuddled up in bed or on the couch means you are much less active than you should be. A simple walk around the block, doing some household chores or playing outside with your kids may help you shift some kilos.

Serving your food ‘family style’

Eating at the dinner table with family is much better when different dishes are spread across the table for everyone to serve themselves right? But not so much for your waistline. Naturally when you’re faced with heaped dishes and over-sized serving spoons your brain tells you to eat more than you need to.

Binge drinking

Many of us tend to forget how alcohol stalls weight loss. We’ve seen in many TV shows, like Being Mary Jane, how one glass of wine can turn into a bottle, and then a number of bottles. As relaxing as this may be after a long day, it can be the reason why your efforts at the gym aren’t paying off. Besides the calories that are in may alcoholic beverages, over-drinking throws off your hunger hormones hence you’ll find yourself snacking on left overs after a couple of drinks.
