She’s reaping the benefits of her exercise routine, but radio DJ Liesl Laurie tells it like it is.

“Am I the only one who wishes I could drop my body at the gym and then pick it back up when it’s ready?” she said on Instagram. We quizzed the former Miss SA about her fitness routine.

How often do you workout?

Four to six days a week, depending on my schedule. Favourite exercise to do? Favourite day: leg day; favourite exercise: squats; worst exercise: hamstring curls.

How do you motivate yourself when you just don’t feel like it?

I pay my trainer in advance, so if I miss a session I forfeit the fee. Having grown up with very little, I’ve never been able to waste money so the idea of losing that money motivates me to get it together. Also knowing that I’m investing in my future self is all the motivation I need.

Most surprising thing you’ve discovered about your body or your fitness?

I’m much stronger than I look.

Right now it’s Hailee Steinfeld’s Love Myself.

What do you consider your biggest achievement so far?

My “gains”. I’ve gained some muscle over the past few months and I’m very happy with my shape right now.

Which do you prefer: strength training or cardio?

Strength training.

Yoga or Pilates?

Neither. Can you believe I’ve never done yoga or Pilates? Like, who am I?

What does your cheat meal look like?

Like heaven on earth! It’s generally some sushi with all the trimmings or a seafood pasta or a cauliflower-base pizza with all the toppings.
