Caira-Lee Durand lost her mother to the devastating eating disorder, anorexia.
"Growing up, I was used to my mother not always being around. I was used to her not sitting at the dinner table with me and my siblings. That’s just the way it was. I was used to ambulances, visits to hospitals, rehab centres and at the very end, frail care. Although my mother was only 53 when she died, her body had deteriorated so much that the doctors described her health similar to that of a 98-year-old. She was on dialysis four times a week and could no longer go to the bathroom on her own."
