5 pastors who made news for exploiting people

accreditation
Pastors are supposed to be there to guide you on a spiritual path, should you choose one, but the way some do it is more than just a little bit questionable.

Here are some of the most controversial moments in recent history.

When this pastor made the congregation strip: According to Amredeemed.com, an unnamed pastor from a church in Soshanguve managed to convince his congregation that in order to receive overwhelming anointing, they had to strip naked.

What’s more, he trampled on them while they were lying on the ground half-naked, (Trampling seems to be a trend in some churches).

When a pastor ordered women to come to church, commando: Remember that pastor who asked women to come to church without panties and bras?

According to Newsone.com, pastor Njohi believed that was the only way Christ could enter their bodies spiritually.

I thought God entered through the heart, but hey, it’s none of my business.

This pastor who stepped on a pregnant woman’s stomach: More trampling, see? This one hasn’t necessarily made news yet, which is shocking, but he has caused anger on Facebook.

The language barrier in the video causes me not to understand what his purpose of doing that was, but at the end the pregnant woman falls to his feet in worship, tears and pain, while the congregation cheers on... A Facebook commenter says that healing is in the hands, not the feet. I think he has a point.

When this pastor made his congregation drink petrol: According to News24, Pastor Lesego Daniel convinced his congregation to drink petrol because by faith, the substance will turn into juice. Pineapple juice.

The pastor has also had his congregation eat grass. I suppose he and his followers took the terms 'sheep',  'shepherd' and 'green pastures' too literally. Watch the congregation drink petrol below.

This pastor who swore he had the cure for HIV/AIDS: According to IOL News, Bishop Hamilton Nala had his congregation believe that the cure for AIDS was in a bottle of “Faith Water”, which he conveniently sold to his followers.

He also told people that they could refill the bottle with tap water and it will still have the same healing effect, as long as a picture of him was on it. This claim has made people stop taking their anti-retrovirals.

Knowledge is certainly power, and we have the power not to turn a blind eye as innocent people are sent further down the wrong path. We might have to start by spring-cleaning the church of the abovementioned types of leaders.
