Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine have made a living
of giving fashion advice to viewers without sounding catty or fat-shaming.
I know a lot of people find them terrifying because they’re so frank and direct with their advice, but I’ve never seen an episode of What Not To Wear wear the duo did not come across as having the contestant’s best interests at heart.
In fact, Trinny especially seemed (to me, at least) like the type of friend who’ll tell you exactly why those pants don’t work, while still taking the time to give you an alternative and have you feel and look great in minutes.
I really thought that she was a believer in the sisterhood.
Either I was wrong, and Trinny has always been a bitch, or creepy Charles Saatchi has already sunk his talons too deep into her. He’s her new BF, by the way. And I can’t help but think that he had something to do with the recent comments she wrote on her blog:
‘It’s great that, at 50, life can still grab you by the throat and shake you up. And it’s even better when you’ve learned to cope with whatever’s thrown at you — so long as it isn’t a bedside lamp.’
To make these comments after Charles Saatchi very publicly shook Nigella Lawson by the neck in a restaurant is not only disrespectful to Nigella, but also to all domestic violence victims.
