Getting your breathing right is the first step to gathering yourself – and often it's all you need to achieve nirvana (state of perfect happiness), or even take that headache down a notch.
Stop distractions. Sit comfortably – either cross-legged on the floor or on a chair – in a quiet spot. Keep your back straight.
Partially close your eyes and become aware of your breathing, preferably through your nostrils.
Be exclusively aware of your breathing, and concentrate on the sensation of air being drawn in and out.
Resist your busy mind. Keep returning to being aware of your breathing.
Practice makes perfect. Do this for 10 to 15 minutes daily and feel the difference. It really works!
