Sharing grief: Sheryl Sandberg’s beautiful tribute to her late husband

accreditation
Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook and author of the worldwide bestseller Lean In, recently lost her husband, Dave, suddenly and unexpectedly.

After the official 30 day mourning period required by Judaism, Sandberg shared a intensely moving and deeply personal tribute to her late husband.

“I have lived thirty years in these thirty days. I am thirty years sadder. I feel like I am thirty years wiser.”

Her post has since gone viral, and by people’s reactions all over the world, it’s safe to say that her wish to help others who have experienced loss has been realised.

“While the experience of grief is profoundly personal, the bravery of those who have shared their own experiences has helped pull me through. Some who opened their hearts were my closest friends. Others were total strangers who have shared wisdom and advice publicly.

"So I am sharing what I have learned in the hope that it helps someone else. In the hope that there can be some meaning from this tragedy.”

Anyone who has experienced the pain of losing a loved one knows that challenges and hopelessness it can present.

Sheryl Sandberg has taken something painful and turned it into something beautiful that can bring comfort to others. We salute her. Read the entire post here.
