What is Woman Zone and why should you be a part of it

Sandra played soccer for her club (Kenwyn United) for 18 years and was a member of the SA Ladies Soccer Team (Springboks) before it became known as Banyana Banyana.

In 1994, at the age of 43, she was forced to retire as a result of a knee injury. She’s a serious walker now and an active granny, but has never lost her passion for the beautiful game!

Sandra is one of thirteen women who have been chosen to take part in Woman Zone’s 13 Women, a year-long series designed to spotlight some of Cape Town’s most inspiring women.

Each month, with two in Women’s Month, a woman from one of thirteen different communities will share her story before opening debate.

Woman Zone is a movement focused on the Mother City's cultural diversity.

It is designed to help women from all cultures get to know one another better, share stories and experiences, work together, learn from each other - and above all to highlight and promote our past, present and future achievements, not our victimhood.

The vision of the movement is to celebrate women of the City, not only through a series of projects, (such as the 13 Women series or The Woman's Walk and Talk Route,) but also by establishing a permanent, accessible space housing a Woman’s Library, meeting hub, archive and coffee shop.
