Oprah School scandal: Matron acquitted

Tiny Virginia Mokgobo faced 14 charges of sexual and physical abuse after being accused of trying to kiss and fondle girls at the scool soon after its opening in 2007.

“The magistrate indicated that the state did not prove itself case beyond reasonable doubt on all the charges. We won't be appealing the judgment,” said Mthunzi Mhaga, a spokesperson for the NPA.

Oprah said she was deeply disappointed by the verdict, given her own history of sexual abuse.

“I will forever be proud of the nine girls who testified with the courage and conviction to be heard,” Oprah said in a statement on Monday.

Even though the matron has been acquitted, do you think the reputation of the school has been damaged irrevocably?
