CHEAT SHEET: How MTV Shuga aims to save the lives of young South African women

The MTV Shuga: Down South creators have set out ambitious goals they want to achieve with the series.

In its second season, the series aims to influence healthy behaviour among South African youth, as She Conquers dedicating a special focus on issues that affect young girls and women.

In partnership with She Conquers, MTV Base, Unitaid and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine create awareness for and normalise HIV self-testing kits and Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

Below are a list of goals these organisations aim to achieve through the series and its projects:

You can catch other edutainment TV shows such as Sex Education and Atypical on Netflix, as they highlight issues relating to the complexities of sexuality and autism respectively.

MTV Shuga: Down South will air on 12 February 2019 at 9:30pm on DSTV channel 322.
