Stefani Joanne Germanotta, who is more widely recognised as Lady Gaga, has officially made award history as the first woman to ever win an Oscar, Grammy, BAFTA and Golden Globe in a single year.

She earned herself the golden statue after hit soundtrack ‘Shallow’ from A Star is Born bagged an Oscar for best original song.

During her emotional acceptance speech, she thanked her co-star Bradley Cooper for believing in her.

However, Gaga has not always had people rooting for her in the past.

When she was a college student at New York University (NYU) she was bullied, with peers who did not believe she was talented, saying she would never be famous.

Her university bullies even went as far as creating an NYU-based "Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous" Facebook group.

Someone on Twitter stumbled upon the group and posted a screenshot after her Oscar win on Sunday:

A former NYU classmate of hers and journalist Lauren Bohn, revealed in a Facebook post that she remembers seeing the Facebook page as a student and how it broke her heart.

“Was a freshman at NYU and Facebook was only a year old.” She disclosed how Gaga was slut-shamed and called derogatory names in the group.

"I also remember one dude posting a flyer for one of her upcoming gigs at a local village bar. He had clearly stomped on the flyer, an outline of his muddy sole struggling to eclipse her name," she wrote.

Lauren concluded her post with a powerful shout-out to Gaga:

"Stefani, thank you. Thank you for always thinking you’re a superstar, for using your cracks to let the light come out more brightly. Humans, let’s follow suit."

In an interview with Google, Lady Gaga opened up about the long-lasting effects of being bullied.

“Bullying really stays with you your whole life. And it really, really never goes away. And I know you're using words like 'superstar' and 'most-googled' and 'billions of YouTube [views].' But I was never the winner. I was always the loser,” she said.

The superstar even posted an anti-bullying video on her Instagram page in 2017 when her colleague's daughter was being bullied at school.

"No child should have to sit alone at lunch or constantly be outcast. Let's empower each other to be kinder and braver,"she wrote.

One person perfectly quoted this Oscar winner's favourite pearl of wisdom; “there can be 100 people in the room and 99 people don’t believe in you, but you only need just one who does.”

It's a reminder for everyone to block the noise coming from naysayers and follow your dreams no matter what.
