As seen in this Statistics SA report, women in South Africa still face systemic inequality. From unemployment, to unequal pay, to a lack of access to water and sanitation, women in South Africa bear the brunt of the unequal society.
According to this report, women suffer a higher unemployment rate and have less access to basic resources like clean water and improved sanitation. In addition to this, the report shows that women also experience a perpetual pay inequality, with women with no formal education earning almost 54.4% of the income earned by their male counterparts.
