Beauty Review: Mavala Base and Top Coat

What do we all want? Salon-finish nails that lasts for weeks. Sadly a weekly trip to the salon is not on my to-do list (or in the budget) so ideally I need an at-home solution. My nails are generally in quite good nick, though my usual Sunday night paint job normally only lasts until Wednesday if I’m lucky.

With the right top and base coat your mani should still look good after a week. I did some research and tried two Mavala products and these were the results.

The protective base coat filled in the ridges on my nail bed like spackle, and gave me a wonderfully smooth canvas to work with. It applied smoothly and dried really quick. {BONUS!} It also made my nails look healthy and left no stains on the nail.

After some varnish I used the Strong, Flexible Top Coat. I absolutely loved the top coat. It gave my nails a wonderful shine but the only downside I would say is that it took forever to dry properly.

Chip 1 however happened the very next morning but only on my right hand. Even after 3 days only my right hand showed signs of “aging” which leads me to believe that application might be the difference – I’m not the best left hand painter.

The results: My nail polish lasted longer, it reduced chipping and it looked a lot more professional than my usual do-it-in-front-of-the-tv-on-a-magazine stint.

Mavala is also launching their latest Mini Colour range, the Chili & Spice collection just in time for Spring. This is one of two new collection which will be making up their Spring/Summer collection.
