Get natural highlights
This is perhaps the oldest hair trick in the book - one I used quite often as a teenager unable to afford salon-quality highlights.
Squeeze citrus fruit – most people prefer lemon – into a cup and use a toothbrush to apply the juice to your tresses. Then go and chill in the sun for a while (remember to apply sunscreen!). Do this every so often for about 30 min at a time (avoid times of day when the sun is at its harshest, like 12pm-2pm). And voila, blonder hair will be yours soon!

Remove extension bonding glue
InStyle recommends applying olive oil for about 15 minutes to your hair tracks to remove the glue that goops up after you’ve applied a new set of extensions. This will soften the glue and help you to wash it away more easily.
Rid hair of product build-up
Greasy hair is often caused by product build-up. Sometimes this build-up simply can't be washed away using regular shampoo. Bustle notes that washing your hair with dishwashing liquid is a brilliant hair hack for those suffering from greasy locks as it is so clarifying.
However, be aware that this harsh detergent can remove natural hair oils, so avoid doing this too often.
Eliminate dandruff
Have some left over Ibuprofen (Nurofen) you’re not using? Crush and add some to your normal shampoo. InStyle notes that the jagged edges of the particles help to rid an itchy scalp of dandruff – and fast!
Make your own dry shampoo
No shampoo in da house? StyleCaster says brunettes and red heads often tend to avoid dry shampoo because of the white residue it tends to leave behind.
But, you can actually make your own brunette and red head-friendly dry wash. Yup.
Do this by mixing 2 tbls of cocoa powder, 2 tbls of corn starch and a touch of cinnamon together. Apply at your roots and then proceed to shake through with your fingers.
