This brilliant hair hack turns fine, limp hair into a shiny voluminous mane

accreditation
Sure, it’s true: fine hair is easier to manage than natural curls or frizzy hair – mainly because it’s easier to bully thin, limp hair into submission – but anyone who’s known the struggle of dealing with hair that loses its sheen after a deep conditioner or gives up the bounce if it’s not washed every day will know that “silky” hair comes with many cons.

If the following sounds familiar, this hack is for you:

•    My hair hates product. I can’t even look at a mask or I look like a penguin that got caught in an oil spill.
•    If I don’t wash my hair every day it looks flat and oily, but if I do wash my hair every day it looks lacklustre and straw-like.
•    To me, “volume” is something measured in millilitres and “body” is the thing I live in. Neither has anything to do with hair, even though I’ve tried every volumising product under the sun.
•    Hairspray, mousse, hair oils and even conditioner completely drown my hair and leave it weighed down and dull.

But then I found the answer…

First condition, then shampoo.

I know, it sounds so simple I can’t understand why I haven’t tried it before. Because I’ve tried everything else: a) Eschewing conditioner completely, which gives hair bounce but robs it of shine, b) shampooing twice and then putting conditioner on for a mere couple of seconds which just aggravates the scalp without nourishing the hair shaft, c) only conditioning the ends of the hair which leaves the texture uneven… But finally I have the answer.

Condition your hair properly. Apply conditioner from root to tip and allow a good few minutes to absorb and do its job. And then shampoo hair thoroughly and rinse.

You’ll end up using less shampoo, your hair will look healthy but with bounce and shine and you could even go more than a day without repeating the process. I now do that every second day and my hair looks and feels awesome.
