Consider this your Clicks and Dischem cheat sheet

Jar of face cream.
Jar of face cream.

Some people love the supplement aisle in the supermarket, some the stationery aisle, some even the cleaning detergents’ (Monica’s of the world, I’m looking at you) but for me, it’s the beauty aisle.

Sure, I love a rich and luxurious (and expensive) face cream just as much as the next beauty junkie but I find it totally thrilling to discover drugstore products that don’t break the bank – and that work.

Good skincare and make-up shouldn’t be a luxury that only the rich and famous can afford. In fact, those of us staying in on a Friday night during Janu-worry could probably do with a little pick-me-up sheet mask more than they do, right?

But don’t be fooled… Not all products are created equal. I’ve tried and tested some real make-up duds (both cheap and pricey) and have had my fair share of poor skincare induced breakouts. So, in the hopes of spreading good skin vibes around the country, here’s my drugstore cheat sheet…

BUY IT: Garnier skin active hydra bomb tissue mask green tea, R39, Dis-chem

garnier

Quench thirsty skin with this 15-minute rehydrating mask. Remember to follow the sheet mask rules.

BUY IT: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser 400ml, R190, Dis-chem

cetaphil

One of my all-time favourite cleansers. It’s non-drying, fragrance-free and still manages to remove make-up. And it comes in a 400ml bottle. It doesn’t get much better than this folks.

BUY IT: L’Oreal pure clay facial mask 50ml Purity, R128, Dis-chem

A firm favourite in the WH LIVE! Festival goodie bag… Time to re-stock? Yip, me too!

BUY IT: Garnier pure active Bb cream medium 50ml, R75, Dis-chem

BB Creams are ideal for those good skin days, where you don’t feel like it’s necessary to cover your almost-flawless complexion with heavy foundation. This is the OG of BB Creams. Unfortunately, it only comes in two shades: light and medium but if either of these match your skin tone you’re #winning.

BUY IT: Revlon Youth Fx Fill + Blur Concealer, R150, Dis-chem

revlon concealer

Fill. Blur. Conceal.  – It’s literally as easy as those 3 simple steps. Plus with a fairly wide range of shades you can get a really good match to your natural skin tone. I love the sponge applicator here. It makes for a way smoother finish than the ‘finger smear’.

BUY IT: L’Oreal false lash butterfly mascara black, R145, Dis-chem

Admittedly, I own a pretty impressive collection of mascaras (many insanely pricey) and yet, I find myself reaching for this one on the reg. Winged out, full-on fluttery lashes, minus the clumps.

BUY IT: Philips Trimmer Bikini Brt381 With Dualcut Technology, R99, Dis-chem

I genuinely don’t remember life before my bikini trimmer. From in-between laser sessions to at-home grooming, it’s the niftiest beauty tool I own. Add this to your cart, stat. You won’t look back.
