I use Nimue, which I absolutely love, particularly the range for environmentally damaged skins. In the morning I use the Cleansing Gel, Conditioner, Nimue Day and Sun-C SPF40. At night I use the Cleansing Gel, Exfoliating Enzyme (two to three times a week), Conditioner and Moisturiser Plus. I’m religious when it comes to my skincare routine and never miss a step.

Favourite fragrance?

Alien by Thierry Mugler. It’s such a vibrant fragrance and complements me perfectly.

What beauty advice would you give your 16-year-old self?

Wear sunblock! I had no idea how damaging the sun’s effects could be and thought that because I have an olive skin tone, I didn’t need to wear it. I cringe thinking about all those summer days I spent cooking myself in the sun, slathered in baby oil!

Top five travel essentials?

Moisture-boosting products like:

A great lip balm – my favourite is Blistex DCT Lip Balm.
Before and after my flight, I swap my regular moisturiser for one with a richer texture.
I keep a small bottle of Evian Natural Mineral Facial Spray in my handbag during the flight.
I always take a hydrating mask to use after I land; I wear it while I unpack.
If I’m travelling to a sunny place, I make sure I have more than enough sunblock for my face and body.

Best form of pampering?

I own The Laser Beautique in Menlyn Maine, Pretoria, which offers all sorts of pampering. I enjoy a great sports massage and a luxury mani/pedi. The funny thing is that since opening my clinic, I seem to treat myself a lot less often than I did before. There just never seems to be enough time!

Hair and makeup artist or DIY?

Admittedly, I’m not great at doing my own hair. With all the events I’ve had to attend over the past year, I’ve been forced to master how to do a decent face of makeup.

The haircare product you can’t live without?

Gary Rom Foundation Spray: it’s a root-lifting spray that builds body and volume.

Bold lip or smoky eye?

During the day I usually opt for lots of mascara and a bold lip, but that’s because it’s the least time-consuming. At night, when I have a bit more time to get ready for dinner or an event, I usually go with an intense smoky eye.

What’s on your nightstand?

Water, lip balm, hand cream, my laptop and a good book.

I cleanse, tone and moisturise every day, twice a day, with Environ products. I exfoliate with the Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula every four to five days, drink lots of water and try to have a facial every six to eight weeks.

Favourite fragrances?

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey and Thierry Mugler Alien are all-time favourites. A current fave is the Alaïa Paris fragrance. All three are unique and bold, and that’s what I look for in a scent.

Beauty advice you’d give your 16-year-old self?

Wear sunscreen all the time; drink lots of water!

Your top five beauty essentials when travelling?

Sunscreen
Lipstick
Electric shaver
Lash curler
Wet wipes

Favourite form of pampering?

I enjoy a facial. I also love having my nails and lashes done at my favourite joint: The Loft Spa at the Strand Tower Hotel in Cape Town.

Makeup artist or DIY?

I enjoy having the professionals work their magic. I can do the basics but nothing beats the work of a glam squad. I absolutely love the transformation.

The haircare product you can’t live without?

TRESemmé Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment – it works wonders on my natural hair and on my extensions.

Bold lip or smoky eye?

Bold lip, always!

What’s on your nightstand?

Lip balm and eye cream.

It’s pretty simple: cleanse, tone and moisturise. I barely go for facials or do masks unless I have free time or am feeling fancy at home.

Favourite fragrance?

Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf

What beauty advice would you give your 16-year-old self?

Just give your skin and body a break. You’re still growing. Give yourself time to develop.

Favourite form of pampering?

I love getting my nails done! The Loft Nail Bar in Dainfern, Jo'burg is amazing.

The haircare product you can’t live without?

Moroccanoil Original Treatment

What’s on hand on your nightstand?

Eos lip balm, a Diptyque candle, my Bible and a photo of my kids.

I’m a La Mer fan. I use the Moisturizing Soft Lotion (it’s lighter than the crème) and Broad Spectrum SPF 50 UV. At night I use the Cleansing Micellar Water, then the Regenerating Serum.

Favourite fragrances?

Alien by Thierry Mugler, and all the versions of Bvlgari Omnia. Bulgari feels so luxurious and Alien has been my go-to for years.

Any beauty advice for your 16-year-old self?

Wear sunscreen and drink lots of water. And be gentle with yourself. Your oily skin seems like a burden now, but it will help you age gracefully.

Top five travel essentials?

La Mer’s The Mist and Renewal Oil to rejuvenate my skin in record time. I always pack eyeliner and mascara (Great Lash from Maybelline is fab!) for a quick, bright eye.

Favourite form of pampering?

When I find time, I go to the One & Only for the Bastien Gonzalez pedi. It’s the best!

Hair and makeup artist or DIY?

My stylist and friend, Shaughn Adams of Image and Hair, knows my hair so well. Shanaaz Alexander is my favourite makeup artist and I trust her so much, I hardly check the mirror when she’s done. She just gets me!

Best hair product?

I love scraping my hair into a slick bun as it takes two minutes and looks elegant. Revlon’s Flex Hair Gel works like a charm.

Bold lip or smoky eye?

Sexy smoky eye!

What’s on your nightstand?

Wet wipes, nappies and bum cream! No products within reach of my little people!
