The new face of an Avon beauty campaign is a burn survivor

accreditation

According to the BBCChanging faces ambassador Catrin Pugh has been revealed as the new face of Avon's national beauty campaign stand4her, which focuses on smashing the misrepresentation of beauty in media.

This comes after the beauty giant conducted a global research to establish the barriers holding women back from reaching their full potential in all areas of their lives.

Their findings revealed that 40 percent of the women participants said they do not resonate with the women that they see represented in the media.

This prompted Avon to look at the women featured in its own campaigns.

Catrin was brought on board after becoming a body positivity activist and motivational speaker who survived severe burn wounds.

The 25 year old was left with only the soles of her feet unburned after a bus she was travelling on crashed and burst into flames in 2013.

She was given a one in a thousand chance of survival and was named the first adult in the world to survive such extensive burns according to Daily Post.

She has now been officially unveiled as the face of Avon's new perfect nudes beauty range launching on 15 March.

In a media statement by Avon, Catrin says she is excited to be part of a beauty campaign that challenges traditional beauty stereotypes.

I hope that it will open the eyes of people in the beauty and fashion industries, and society in general, that we should be championing a diverse range of role models, especially for young people. I hope to inspire others to embrace their appearance, no matter what you look like.

Her journey to embracing her body has seen her bravely posing for photographs in her underwear to reveal her scars.

She did this as part of a photography campaign called 'behind the scars' which was aimed at celebrating scars of all shapes and sizes and the incredible stories behind them.

Here are other courageous women who joined her on the campaign in an attempt to break scar taboos.

Catrin now wants to encourage other women to be more confident about their bodies and wear their scars with pride, as she travels the United Kingdom inspiring and instilling self-love.
