Forget nail art. Word of mouth is that lips are the hottest canvas for amazing body art – and there’s one artist who’s way ahead of the pouty pack.

Tatushka Matviienko has taken her passion for creating flawless lips to the next level with mind-blowing 3D lip-art designs.

Her incredible skills have even earned her the nickname Vincent van Gloss, a nod to 19th-century Dutch Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh.

Tatushka, from Nikolaev in Ukraine, is a makeup artist and has worked in the beauty industry for about 15 years, Yahoo reports.

She decided to try her hand at lip art after winning a lipstick art contest a few years back. It wasn’t long before organisations started asking her to produce work for their exhibitions and advertising.

“In the beginning I was doing this for myself, but then people really liked it,” she says.

Tatushka also posts tutorials on her YouTube channel to give followers an insight into the process from start to finish. Her precision and attention to detail are meticulous.

Tatushka does her designs either on herself or on a model and doesn’t always limit herself to lips, New York Post reports.

She’s equally at ease with full-face art inspired by Alice in Wonderland, say, or ethereal landscapes which she carefully paints across her decollete.

In 2017 she made it to the top 10 in the NYX Face Awards in Ukraine. The competition is held annually around the world by the cosmetics brand to allow makeup-lovers to show off their work and creativity in the hopes of winning a huge cash prize.

Tatushka took part in the 2019 contest too and again finished in the top 10. The work, an ethereal moonscape painted on her body, took 13 hours to complete. She has almost 50 000 followers on Instagram, where her admirers can stay up to date with her creative designs. She says her inspiration comes from almost anywhere.

“If I see a beautiful flower it becomes a design. The same if I see a wild animal. And if I have a dream about something, Paris for example, I can use that as well.”

Her creations range from glossy fruit and floral designs to sushi, sunsets and seashores.

“The most difficult thing is making sure my hand is very steady – I feel like I can’t even breathe sometimes,” she says.

Let alone mouth off . . .
