Autumn/Winter makeup trends inspired by Beyoncé's contributions to pop culture

And yes, we recommend only four trends because... uh, Beyoncé.

So as the 'no makeup' makeup look takes over the beauty scene in 2019, we've felt more compelled than ever to take care of our skin first before investing in high-end makeup. And now that the seasons are transitioning, we might need to adjust our skincare routine ever so slightly.

This is a common practice as many people tend to go from having a glazed doughnut T-zone in summer to experiencing a drier T-zone at this time of the year. It's me - I'm many people.

As a result, our Dis-Chem baskets will now probably have more skincare products and a few makeup essentials such as mascara, lightweight foundation or BB cream, and perhaps plenty eyeshadow.

But even as seasons change, there's no reason to stop glamming up. If anything, splashing some colour on your face might be just what you need over the next few dull months (apologies to anyone who enjoys winter).

Seeing as Queen Bey's Homecoming Netflix documentary is giving us a hot start to the Autumn/Winter period, why not try these makeup trends we've associated with her contributions to pop culture?

These are the four we recommend:

Flawless

Celebrity makeup artists have fully embraced the flawless skin effect makeup trend, and now we're seeing more pops of colour and glitter on eyelids and less contoured visages, where freckles and moles remain visible instead.

We saw the most flawless example of this - courtesy of her MUA Sir John - when Beyoncé attended the Roc Nation Pre-Grammy brunch, and we conceded to the fact that perhaps she really does wake up like this;

To achieve this look, I use Clarins Everlasting Foundation+, which is lightweight and provides light-medium coverage for a "natural looking, flawless complexion."

Blue Ivy

But sometimes it also doesn't hurt to be bold and complete your 'beat with brighter lids and lips. In our beauty trends forecast, we predicted that the colour blue would dominate makeup trends this year.

I mean, it was way before Blue's time, but who doesn't love '80s-esque blue eyeshadow/liner, but with millennial brushstrokes?

Halo

Technically speaking, I'm referring to halo eyeshadow that will make it look like the sun sets and rises on your eyelids even on gloomy weather days.

Yes, this is another eye makeup recommendation because 2019 beauty is all about almost bare faces with dramatic lids and lips, remember?

XO

We all know that the 'X' in XOXO is for kisses, so make sure your smackers are always well moisturised with a good lippie this winter.

Want matte lipstick that won't dry out your lips? I recently tried out Swiitch Beauty's new #AirMatte range of lipstick, and besides the fact that it literally doesn't transfer, I also like that it doesn't crack my lips.

Of course, as a red lipstick aficionado, I went for 'Supreme' and complemented it with blue shadow.

Achieve XO lips and make people bow down when you wear one of the six shades the #AirMatte range is available in. This range goes on sale on 24 April at Swiitch Beauty.
