Tested: Anti-ageing products

Perricone MD Formula 15 - tested by Clairwen Praetorius (age 40)

Although the intention was always there – I managed to get to 40 with a very hap hazard approach to my daily routine of ensuring a less wrinkled old age. Clearly my routine was rather scary to my much younger colleague who, when given the Perricone MD Formula 15 to review, thought that I would be the perfect guinea pig.

So armed with my little bottle and long list of instructions I set off on my somewhat sceptic mission! Fast forward one month and I am converted and smiling, albeit with a lot less laugh lines around the eyes! So while I may need to frown at the price of my next bottle – I am sure those frown lines in the forehead will not  be noticed! At my age I can be rescued thanks to Perricone MD Formula 15 (R3000 for 59ml) – I can feel it working as soon as it touches my skin.

Snoxin (by Indeed Labs) - tested by Deirdre Ingpen (age 42)

This is an odourless anti aging serum (R499) that you apply to your skin after toning and before moisturising.

The product itself is easy to apply, its absorbed quickly and seems to last even although the tube looks small.  I have not experienced any redness even although it claims to have the "highest concentration of next-generation peptides" than most other products on the market.

I was expecting to see visible results within three days  as claimed on their website, but to be honest my wrinkles (laugh lines) particularly around my eyes do not look any different and its now three weeks later. The one positive is that my skin certainly feels smoother and is less dry this winter which could be attributed to the product.

Skin Regimen - tested by Lili Radloff (age 32)

Skin Regimen believes in a holistic approach to skin care, since so many factors in our day to day life influence ageing. This holistic view includes a diet rich in nutrition with lots of clean food and good fat. They also encourage supplement use, stress avoidance, care from sun and a host of all the things that take a toll on our skins. After all, you can’t expect to slap some product on your skin and stay young forever. Being me, I completely failed to stay with the program.

Even so, with minimal co-operation from my part, Skin Regimen has been the best product I’ve ever put on my face. My skin has never felt so smooth, so nourished and so moisturised – not even when I was a teenager. It is pricey though. The Hydra Pro Booster Serum is R900 but worth every cent. You also only use a few drops every day so I suspect it will last long. I’ve been using it for months and haven’t made a proper dent yet. The Hydra Pro Cream Gel is R800 and probably the creamiest most delicious thing I’ve ever put on my face. Sadly I have run out.

I wouldn’t bother with the face wash – it’s very gentle and nice, but doesn’t really wash off makeup and I actually prefer my normal face wash. But that serum and cream! I imagine if you follow the entire regimen (with the lifestyle stuff included) you may well look a whole lot younger in just a few months.
