I’ve always been selective about the cosmetic products I use, especially on my face, so, after much lobbying from their PR agency, I finally decided to try the recently launched Nu Skin anti-ageing product, ageLOC Tru Face Essence Duet.
The product is packaged in a dual vial chamber with a push pump system that releases a rich, opaque cream to contour, as well as a serum for skin tone and firmness.
Before applying the cream, I washed my face with water, then dispensed the mixture into my hands and applied it gently to my face, neck and décolleté. It felt as if my face was heating up. Ouch! A few minutes later, my skin felt smooth and radiant.
The accompanying serum is a light elixir that provides intense moisturisation, leaving the skin visibly smooth and improving complexion.
But, let me warn you, it doesn’t come cheap. It costs R2 500 for just 30ml. That said, it can last for more than a month, which is how long I’ve be using this product. In that time, what I’ve noticed is that it helps limit the loss of elasticity and visibly lifts and softens one’s skin. The treatment is suitable for all skin types for both the prevention and reversal of the ageing process.
The key ingredients are an ageLOC™ proprietary blend, which targets the cause of skin ageing, trifluoroacetyl tripeptide-2, which improves the skin’s elasticity, and Spilanthes acmella extract, which addresses fine lines, wrinkles and loss of elasticity.
Is it worth the price tag or are you just paying for the exquisite packaging? That’s a question I’m still struggling to answer.
What would be ideal is if Nu Skin came up with a less flashy but similar product that was a bit more affordable.
