Nude Foods, a plastic-free grocery store, recently opened in Cape Town. The company philosophy, "This means filling your pantry with high-quality, sustainable, delicious foods and products, without filling your bin with wasteful packaging."
It has been found that packaging often costs more than the actual product it holds. Yet with the increase of e-commerce and small businesses selling their products online on platforms like Shopify, the need for light, streamlined packaging is becoming an increasing trend, according to Pack Help.
It also notes that in 2018, businesses are more focused on creating packaging that is sustainable, plastic will be reduced and packaging will be more minimalist in general.
I am not a big fan of gimmicky products. The more glitzy the packaging, the more I become dubious of it's actual effectiveness.
Who needs bells and whistles when the product, the actual formulation, can speak for itself, right?
So don't fall in the trap of not buying or trying products because they are not so pretty on the outside.
Here are 5 products I swear by:
Maybelline Great Lash mascara, Clicks.
An oldie but a goodie! This product has been around for ages and for good reason. Lash-tastic!

One of the best facial cleansers, particularly for those with sensitive skin. Its packaging is plain and simple but it works like a bomb.
Epimax Cream, Dis-Chem
This humble tub of love has been trusted by many for years, especially for those suffering from dry skin and eczema.
Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellaire 250ml, Clicks
