The AltiraSPA at the Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel has been voted one of the top ten hotel spas in the world in the Conde Nast Traveller Magazine (UK) Readers' Awards.
This is the second accolade for the spa this year. In June, it won the Les Nouvelles Esthétiques Award for the best hotel spa in the country.
Now in their ninth year, these prestigious awards are made on the basis of a reader vote. People are asked to score a range of travel facilities and services and then a percentage 'satisfaction rating' is calculated.
AltiraSPA came out eighth overall in the 'Overseas Hotel Spa' section. However, it gained top marks in the 'amenities/products' (97.50%) and service/staff (95%) categories – beating the overall winner (The BanyanTree in Bangkok).
Spa manager, Sheila Otieno is particularly proud of this latest achievement. "The Conde Nast award was the result of a client vote rather than a judging panel- which means we are consistently providing outstanding service to our customers, the people who really matter.
"Our exceptional performance in the amenities and staff categories says a great deal, not only about our superb facilities but also about the calibre of our team."
The AltiraSPA on the 19th floor of the ArabellaSheraton Grand Hotel combines a full array of beauty treatments, massages, revitalising and shaping treatments with breathtaking views across the Mother City.
The team have recently introduced three new signature treatments – Arabella Refresh, Relax and Balance – that combine elements of ancient massage traditions to provide extraordinary therapeutic benefits for both mind and body.
Arabella South Africa has also just finished an extensive refurbishment of the AltiraSPA at The Western Cape Hotel and Spa near Hermanus. Some R7.5 million has been spent on the property and the spa, regarded as one of the world’s best 100 spas, has been extensively upgraded.
The new facility includes the African Rainforest Experience – a world first sensory water and steam treatment developed specifically for South Africa and which uses South African products.
