Scrolling through supermodel Christy Turlington-Burnes's Instagram feed you can't help but be utterly convinced of her happiness. She is the epitome of aging gracefully.

At the age of 46, she is the picture of beauty. She's still modelling for beauty houses like Imedeen and Maybelline and is also an active philanthropist.

Her flawless, beautiful skin has always been her best asset. She once shared a few of her best beauty rules with marieclaire.co.uk, where she stressed the use of skin supplements such as Imedeen. She said it truly brought her skin back to life. She also believes in a balanced life, not too much of anything and not depriving yourself either.

I personally believe that happy skin makes happy people. When your skin is healthy, plump, hydrated and glowing, you feel much more confident and generally more happy. This, however, doesn't happen overnight or simply by chance.

You have to invest in good products and establish a proper skin care regime.

This is the only reaction your skin will have...

Try:

1. Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate

Kiehl’s products have always worked well for me and one can become quite easily addicted to their whole range.  The Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate is no exception. It does exactly what it says.

It goes on very light with a heating effect on the skin as the product blends into the skin very quickly - and it definitely smoothes away roughness immediately.  The product contains 10% pure Vitamin C, which gives your skin a boost of vitality. Also, it doesn’t make my skin feel oily at all and I feel it works brilliantly at retaining moisture.

I have been using the product after cleansing both in the morning and evenings. It’s not very spreadable at all so I’m not too sure how long the bottle will last.

The best thing about this product for me is how it smoothes and hydrates my skin. When I put it on before bedtime I wake up with smoother and softer feeling skin. I have not been using it for long enough to see huge results as far as deeper wrinkles are concerned, but I do feel that my skin is looking better. And this is only after 5 days of using the product. – Catherine Shone

2.    optiphi Intense Retinol Serum and Intense HA Serum

At the moment, these two products rank very high on my favourite products list. I simply find the quality, the convenience of the press-down lid and, of course, the results to be unparalleled. The optiphi Retinol Infinity Serum is an advanced anti-aging serum designed to promote cellular rejuvenation. It's best to introduce this product into your skin care regime slowly. I use it every second night before going to bed. On the other nights I use the Hyaluronic acid serum. Upon initial use, it is recommended that you apply the serum twice weekly, but see how it works with your ski. At first you feel a slight tingling of the skin and a slight tightness.

The optiphi HA Infinity Serum is super effective at re-plumping, adding volume and intensifying skin hydration on a cellular level. I've been using both serums together now for a month and the results are staggering. My skin feels much more hydrated and lifted. Every time I press down on the button which releases the liquid, I desperately hope there's more left in the bottle - as I seriously love, love, love the way my skin feels. - Marisa Crous

3.    Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep

For somebody who has always been cynical about skin products and who sticks to the  soap-water-and-sunscreen routine, this was a pleasant surprise. This night cream is light, which means it does not leave one with a clogged, tight skin feeling. Immediate effects are radiance and an even skin tone.

This is ideal for somebody who has a combination skin since it refines the oily parts, refines pores, and moisturises the eye and lip area. It evens out dark patches and if you have a slightly sensitive skin it seems safe to use since it’s gentle as baby cream. - Rene Lotter

4.   L’Oreal Revitalift Laser Renew Super Serum

I was very impressed with the product as it was a creamy and silky, non-greasy formula that was perfect for my dry and dull skin. I have used it since the 24th of September and can see a definite change in firmness, wrinkles and lighter spots already. I really like the SPF25 as it is relatively high. I've used it both morning and night and the next morning I can still feel it on my skin, which is great. – Hannah Simpson

5.    Nivea Perfect & Radiant Night Cream, R79.99

Can one go wrong with Nivea? I don’t think so.

From their body wash range, to the cellulite-busting body creams, to me, Nivea just keeps getting better. And it’s no different with their latest little beaut, the Perfect and Radiant Night Cream, which I simply adore.

If you’re looking for a product that'll leave your skin feeling as smooth as the apple-cheeks of a baby, then this cream is just the thing for you. Thick, creamy and deliciously smooth on the skin, this night cream left my skin feeling hydrated, while at the same time ensuring that my skin felt like silk.

It’s my new favourite night cream. And it could be yours too.  – Tammy February

6. Skin rejuvenation peel: The Anti-Aging Clinic in Cape Town

While I always promise myself that I will go for regular facials, I have to admit that I hardly ever do so. We just never get around spending time and money on ourselves, do we?

Anyway, I was very excited to head on over to the Institute of Healthy Aging where I was met by Margot who is a skin care therapist OF NOTE. We discussed all the anti-aging treatments available to me – everything from Botox to fillers to Platelet Rich Plasma to carboxy therapy to laser treatments – and eventually I decided on getting a skin rejuvenation peel.

Because my skin is very sensitive I was too scared to do anything very drastic, so Margot and I decided on a superficial peel. These are designed to smooth out the appearance of rough skin, light wrinkles, textural alterations and freckles. (I admit to only learning about the freckles thing later. I would NEVER have tried to erase my freckles, but luckily this treatment didn’t noticeably do that so phew!)

After about 5 minutes of applying the peel my face started tingling. Then the tingle gave way to a burning and I began to panic. I was convinced my skin was turning beet red and blotchy and I cursed myself for trying such a thing as a peel. Margot just calmed my worried heart and managed to soothe my face with lovely cool gels and barrier creams. But the result! My skin was fresh, soft, and dewy as a teenager’s and I definitely looked younger, smoother and more glowing. I’d most certainly do this again, but I’d probably have a glass of wine first next time.  – Lili Radloff
