The ultimate beauty checklist for brides-to-be

accreditation

Often, brides-to-be are so wrapped up in the planning of the event itself that they forget to do anything for themselves.

To make sure you get to your wedding looking your most radiant, here is a checklist of things you should do to prepare yourself as the big day approaches.

Before the six month mark

It seems premature to think about things like your hair, lashes, and nails so far in advance, but actually it gives you time to change your mind.  So go out and get your hair coloured and styled the way you want to for the wedding (and bring your veil if you're using one).

Have your dress chosen, and start working on an exercise routine, especially one that targets areas that are highlighted by your dress.

However, remember that your big day doesn't have to be about losing weight for your wedding (unless you actually want to), but exercise is a good way to help reduce your stress levels. If you have any skin concerns, now is the time to talk to your dermatologist about them, in case you need to begin treatments.

It is also extremely important that you stay hydrated and eat a balanced diet for radiant skin. If these are not things you are doing already, your body will thank you the day of the wedding.

Plan your meals in advance if you think your schedule is going to be busy - you don’t want to forget to eat.

The time to take extreme measures has long passed, so don’t do anything strenuous or stressful between now and the wedding or it might take its toll on your skin.

Three to six months before

If you plan on doing anything with your brows, now is the time.  This is also the time to get the haircut you want for the wedding with periodic trims to keep it the right length and to diminish split ends.

Testing eyelash extensions is a good idea during this time period as there is still time to look for an alternative in case something goes wrong.

Remember, your bridesmaids and family are trying to look their best too, so asking them to work out with you can help keep you motivated when the going gets tough.

One to two months before the big day

The day is almost here so now is the time to do the last of the beauty prep.

Stay hydrated and make an extra effort to cut sweets and carbs until the wedding reception since they can cause all sorts of last-minute blemishes.

At this stage you should be working on your skin and hair. Getting a facial - or even a whole day at the spa - this not only makes your skin look vigorous, it also gives you a nice day to relax and treat yourself.

If you're not satisfied with your hair’s volume, a keratin treatment will make your hair beautiful for your wedding. The time to take extreme measures has long passed, so don’t do anything strenuous or stressful between now and the wedding or it might take its toll on your skin.

Now is also the time to get the final fitting on your dress since your body probably won’t change significantly over the next month or two.

The last two weeks

The day is upon you so now it’s time to do those things you’ve spent months preparing for.  See the stylist for a final trim and get those lashes put on.  If you need it, now is the time for a wax, because any later and your skin might show redness and irritation.

Stay hydrated and make an extra effort to cut sweets and carbs until the wedding reception since they can cause all sorts of last-minute blemishes. Get your nails done the day before as well to reduce chipping.

On the night before, sleep on your back and take it easy so your special day isn’t marred by fatigue.  You are going to be excited, so do things to keep yourself relaxed, such as using aromatherapy incense or bath salts.
