This bride is being called out for making her bridesmaids buy hideous dresses, but there’s a plot twist

accreditation

Over the last few weeks we’ve come across a number of stories of brides whose alter egos have made their demands go viral.

There was the bride who cancelled her wedding and threw a tantrum because she expected her friends to contribute no less than R21 000 for her wedding.

Then there was the bride who fired her bridesmaid in a petty email that really made her look bad.

And finally there was also the bride who threatened to delete her friends on Facebook because they didn’t want to pay R45 000 to attend her dream destination wedding.

We always knew it would just be a matter of time before yet another bridezilla story emerged and let’s just say we didn’t have to wait long. Although this story does have an interesting twist that will certainly make you question a few things.

According to Business Insider, a bride recently infuriated her bridesmaids when she asked them to purchase a collection of truly hideous yellow ballgown dresses as bridesmaids dresses for the price of $188 (Just under R2700) for her wedding day.

This is the dress the bridesmaids refused to wear

The dress is the kind of ballgown you see fitted on those barbie doilies your grandmother used to use to cover toilet paper, so you can imagine that it couldn’t be anything but ugly.

Of course, the argument here is that the big day is about the bride, but requests must be reasonable.

Of the six bridesmaids that formed part of the bride’s party, none of them liked the colour, design and the style. And in their dilemma, they decided to draw straws on who should address their concerns.

The woman who drew the short straw, was also the one that posted about the dilemma on a forum as she wanted advice on how to deal with the situation.

While most people offered support, there were some responses that said that the wedding is actually about the bride’s day and that she should just grin and bear it.

Interestingly, another person suggested that it may be all part of an elaborate prank, which it in fact was.

It turns out that when she went to confront the bride – she opted to soften her concerns by opting with the “website doesn’t look legitimate” reasoning. Which, while clever in its approach, resulted in the bride “going off the rails”.

The bride complained that everyone hated her and that they were all out to ruin her wedding. She eventually stormed off and presumably went off to sulk.

She tried to ask for help from the other bridesmaid but no one responded to her – and that’s when, the bride to be re-emerged with the other bridesmaid and laughingly revealed that it was in actual fact a prank.

The bridesmaid in question said that she was initially very angry because of the stress of dealing with the entire situation. But, once she got her apology, she was also then told that she could choose the bridesmaid dresses.

So all’s well in bride-landia again.
