WATCH: Man proposes to his girlfriend in the most genius way

Shannon Bingham, a casualty nurse from Thatcher in Arizona in the US, was having a normal day at work when she was suddenly summoned to the emergency room.

She was told a patient had been brought in who was apparently in respiratory distress.

As always, Shannon rushed to assist the patient but she was shocked to find that it was someone she knew very well: her boyfriend, Joseph Elkins, a health instructor.

Shannon’s astonishment is clear in the video that was circulated on social media. Then she realizes what was actually going on...

She breathes a sigh of relief before she says, “Do not do that to me!”

It was like something from a romantic movie: Joseph got up off the hospital bed, went down on one knee and said four magic words. “Will you marry me?”

Of course this tale has a happy ending: Shannon said yes!
