Angry bride demands nearly R420 000 for wedding do over from bridesmaid who she claims "stole her spotlight" with her "huge pregnant belly" and "handsome" husband
According to Fox News, an upset bride took to Reddit to find out whether or not she was being unreasonable by demanding one of her bridesmaids pay her $30 000 (nearly R420 000) for a wedding do over after her pregnant belly and attractive husband stole the limelight.
The disgruntled bride begins her post by explaining that she had a group of six bridesmaids, one of which was Anna, the spotlight-stealing bridesmaid in question. She also mentions that her wedding took three years to plan and prepare for.
"We had 6 people on each side of the bridal party. This wedding took 3 full years to plan and prepare for".
She then writes about how she had only planned to give the bridesmaids who were in actual relationships a plus one to her wedding, but then Anna, who was casually seeing someone, was offended by this seeing the wedding was years away.
And so the bride ended up giving all her bridesmaids a plus one.
In between preparations, according to the bride, Anna's casual relationship soon became serious and before long she was two months pregnant and married.
The bride continued her rant by saying four months later, Anna brought her husband, who she had never met to the wedding as her plus one. She also accused Anna of convincing another bridesmaid to bring her guy friend as her partner to the wedding, despite the fact that the bride did not like him.
"She brought her new husband as her plus one (who I never met prior) and convinced one of the other bridesmaids to take her friend as hers (when she KNEW we didn't like him)" she wrote.
The accusations don't end there. The bride accused Anna of purposely showed off her protruding belly and post-wedding glow.
She also explained how in her husband's culture, having a baby before a certain age is not encouraged and naturally all the guests (presumably on her husband's side of the family) couldn't help but stare.
"She was hugely pregnant, and didn't refrain from showing it off. We're both fairly young, 25 and in my husband's culture, getting pregnant before late 20s/30s, married or not, is basically a teenage pregnancy and drew ATTENTION."
The bride went on to complain about Anna's vibrant personality that has a way of "eclipsing" every one around her, and also mentioned Anna's "incredibly handsome and tall" husband who also drew too much attention.
The list of complaints about Anna seem to last forever and for the spotlight-yearning bride, when Anna's guy friend hooked up with her brother and outed him as gay, it caused a scandal at the wedding.
The bride concluded by saying that she ended up leaving the wedding midway through the reception and missed the post wedding brunch the next day. She also says that she can't stand to look at the wedding pictures as they remind her of the day that seemed to be a "celebration of Anna".
She then poses the question, is she wrong for feeling like Anna owes her a wedding, which was met with an array of answers from hundreds of both amused and confused Reddit users. Read some of their comments below.
One wrote, "OP (the bride) has an "I SPENT ALL THIS TIME PLANNING AND LOOKING MY BEST AND NO ONE PAID ATTENTION TO MEEEEEE!!!! WAAAAHHHHH!" stuck up jealous attitude."
While another wrote, "This whole post reeks of jealousy and insecurity and is just sad all around".
While it's quickly becoming a norm for brides to be overzealous and highly pedantic when it comes to their wedding day, I still think this bride may be pushing it a little too far by expecting a wedding do over.
