Usually, when it comes to brides making rules for their weddings we regard it as: it's her wedding, her rules. But what is to be said when a bride puts the lives of her guests at risk?
A worried maid of honour from Missouri, U.S. whis is currently not classified as extremely high risk recently took to Reddit to ask for advice on a wedding she needs to attend in three weeks where the bride demands none of the precautions suggested to stop the spread of the virus be followed. She also shared that some of her family members incluudding her husband and mother in law are high risk as they have underlying conditions.

This particular bride did not include masks as part of the wedding attire. The Maid of honour begins the story by saying, "Yesterday, in a group chat to all of her bridesmaids, the bride-to-be let us know that there will be no masks allowed for the ceremony or photos because she doesn't want them in her photos."
While that may seem like an understandable argument, keeping in mind that the wedding is during a pandemic, the bride turned in up a notch with a second demand, including a social distancing rule.

"When asked if we would be allowed to safely social distance, we were told no, because 'what kind of wedding does that?' I am to walk arm-in-arm, down the aisle with a groomsman, and we will not be standing 6 feet (almost two metres) apart," shared the maid of honour.
"She went off on us for pushing back and told us that if we were uncomfortable, we could feel free not to attend." When the bridesmaids suggested using the same material as their dresses to design the masks, the bride decided to rope her future husband in on the matter.
"She didn't respond to any of our suggestions, and I got a message today from the future groom, letting me know that they are making a couple of 'compromises.' We would be walking individually down the aisle and will be standing 3ft (less than a metre) apart, except for in pictures, where we will be close," she shared.
The couple also argued that "if you can hold your breath for two minutes, you surely can take photos in that same two minutes" as the photographer has promised to be quick.
"I felt like our friendship was really strong, but now I am feeling like I don't matter as much as her happiness and pretty pictures," says the maid of honour.

Reddit users took no time offering advice to the maid of honour with one suggesting the bride postpones, "I can't believe people are still holding large weddings. If even a single person is at-risk or worried, wouldn't you feel better postponing to a time when you can properly celebrate?"
Another highlighted the risk the maid of honour was putting herself and her family in, "There is no choice here. Your husband goes and gets sick; your MIL could die or suffer severe life-long consequences. It's not on you that your friend is both unbelievably selfish and unreasonable."
