It is as if we haven’t talked enough about how a surprise proposal is not acceptable under any circumstance. The least that can happen is having a conversation with your spouse about tying the knot first. This Reddit bride got a surprise proposal, cheated with her ex and the list of the drama that unfolded before and on her big day gets longer as the story continues.

Taking to Reddit, a bridesmaid begins the story by giving a background of the bride, who is from an extremely religious family. Permission from the bride’s family is usually the first step before popping the question. However, what happens when your mother joins the party of an unacceptable surprise?

The bridesmaid writes: “The mom helped the military groom with the design and purchased the engagement ring. He proposed without talking to her first (after being less than a year together) and in front of a group of people. She wanted to say no but felt pressured to say yes. Later, she asks us to be her bridesmaids claiming that they're good now.”

And what is a bachelorette party without a couple of unexpected twists? “We had suspected the bride was cheating on her fiancé. At the party, she ended up cheating with her ex, and we all saw it. Many people tried to talk to her about it, but she didn't think her fiancé needed to know. She even later made up a story that her fiancé was cheating on her.

“A few nights before the wedding, the bride got wasted and was complaining to her fiancé's sister that he said that she doesn't give as good blow jobs compared to his ex. Fiancé hears this and drunkenly says something like, ‘at least I don't cheat on my partner.’"

As you might know, there really isn’t a detergent strong enough to clean up that mess, especially with the families involved, but as you know, the show must go on or, not.

“During the rehearsal dinner the next day, his family confronts hers. Both parents take the bride and groom into a room for like an hour and a half. Her parents find out everything, including that she isn't a virgin. They decide to hold the wedding still.”

The next morning, the bride-to-be received a text from the groom saying he can't continue with the wedding. The bride and her family all go to the hotel where the groom is staying and the bride’s father loses his mind as he had just spent $150 000 (about R2.6 million) at this wedding.

The groom’s family packed their bags and went back home and soon the bride followed, however, after spending so much money, a wedding or something similar had to occur.

“The bride's parents went down the aisle to renew their vows in a half-empty, uninformed church full of guests. They still went ahead with the reception since it was already paid for, though many guests left. The bride and groom continued to date long-distance for two more months before officially break up.”

Although it might not have been the expected turn out, it sure was a positive ending to the messy beginning of a story.
