Wedding wire reports that Christmas Day (25 December) has the most reported couple engagements/proposals. It may be no surprise, since there's so much festive cheer going on and not to mention mistletoe around every corner.

No wonder most partners find it the perfect day to say "yes". Christmas Day is not the only day you can get lucky if you're hoping for that special "I do" moment.

Coming up second best for days people decide to get engaged is the day of love, Valentines Day (14 February). With so much love in the air on this day, one would have expected Valentines to take top spot.

Oh, and don't forgot to get your nails done, for the pictures darling!

In the mean time, we asked some of you to share how you got engaged, read some of your responses below.

"It was a magical evening under the stars"

My hubby, Jason, invited me out for a picnic in the evening in the park on the 31st of November (I guess he had to wait for "pay day" haha). Anyway we spent our time together looking at the stars and talking when suddenly he was on his knees asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes and we've been married for 3 years now.

"I bit into the ring and broke my tooth, it was hilarious!"

I guess my partner thought it would be romantic to get the ring put inside one of my favourite kind of cupcake (red velvet) but what he didn't expect was me to bite so hard into it that my tooth chipped a little. We laughed and laughed but when I eventually calmed down, I said yes. My tooth is a reminder of that sweet day. It was on New Year's Eve.

"There were so many eyes on us, I was nervous!"

My babe decided to propose at a very packed restaurant on a busy Saturday in December. One minute I was enjoying my pasta and some wine, the next this man was kneeling over next to me, I nearly died because I hate attention on me, everyone was watching. Once I got over the initial shock, I said yes. It wasn't my ideal proposal but I'm happily married now.
