As the decade begins, many brides are planning their big day.

With the help of professionals in the wedding industry, we have narrowed down the essential elements you need to make your wedding day as unique and memorable as you want.

Nombulelo Magqira, an events manager at Boschendal, speaks about the venue, budget, food, and wedding design:

Nombulelo shares how your venue impacts your budget and design. She recommends choosing a venue that goes beyond just beauty but also offers value by including cutlery, glassware, chairs, and some furniture in their packages.

Get to know the venue’s offering, and how flexible they are as you might want something extra special, which requires changing a few details. For summer weddings, double-check the quality of your venue’s landscapes as guests may want to spend time soaking up the sun on luscious lawns.

When it comes to food, make sure you go for a tasting before your wedding. The menu your venue offers needs to leave your guests reminiscing for months to come.

Liesl Lambrechts, founder of wedding stationery company, Artica Designs, advises on wedding stationery:

Minimal is the way to go. Try not to go for over the top stationery that will take away your limelight.

Instead, go for elegant designs that incorporate with one or two fonts printed on the most beautiful quality paper because gone are the days of floral designs with five or more fonts.

Chelsea from Warren-Stone planners, an eventing company, takes us through some do’s and don’ts:

Chelsea Warren-Stone says, previously dry forage and spray-painted florals were taboo, but this is no longer the case as the demand is getting high. 

She also recommends that brides reconsider making their wedding cakes more interactive - consider cake pops or even a delicious interactive cake station. The sky’s the limit - remember to book a wedding planner to ensure everything is executed to perfection.
