A bridesmaid recently revealed that her former best friend asked her to have an abortion, after falling pregnant one year before her bestie’s wedding.

The unnamed woman took to a Facebook wedding shaming group, alleging that her former friend made the suggestion after reminding her that no children were allowed at the wedding, Sun UK reports.

“About a year before the wedding, I found out I was pregnant,” the woman explained. “I was always told I couldn’t have kids and so obviously my daughter wasn’t planned, but I was over the moon.

“So I told Kate, expecting excitement, right? Nope. She immediately told me that I was going to be stressed trying to get my bridesmaid dress fitting on my own since I’d have to do it after everyone already had theirs (I was due in April – the wedding was in June).”

Kate went on to explain how difficult the wedding would be for the then 21-year-old now that she was pregnant and suggested that it would be better if she had an abortion, Mirror UK reports.

The woman was taken aback by her friend’s comment and told her how she felt, according to Daily Mail. “I asked if she seriously just suggested I get an abortion to make her wedding go more smoothly,” she continued.

“She told me I was ruining my life and then called her mom on me to [encourage me to] have an abortion.”

The young woman went on to say that she didn’t RSVP to the wedding and hasn’t spoken to Kate ever since.

The post received a lot of attention from fellow members of the group who found the story disturbing.

“I’m totally pro-choice, but to ask someone to have an abortion in order to make sure her wedding goes smoothly is like really disturbing,” one user commented.

Another said, “How dare your life continue while I plan my wedding?! Unbelievable! Some people.”

“Congrats on the baby girl and I hope you have much better friends now,” another user wrote.
